The Steel City Beer and Food Tour - our new city centre beer experience launches!

Sheffield’s beer scene has long been legendary, and the wider South Yorkshire region — now home to 58 breweries — boasts more breweries per head of population than anywhere else in the country. Together they produce around 1,800 different beers every year, cementing the area’s reputation as a thriving hub of brewing creativity and earning it the title of the real ale capital of the world.

Now, with the relaunch of our Steel City Beer & Food Tour, there’s an even better way to experience it. This year, Sheffield Food Tours has expanded its popular Kelham Island beer experience to include a brand‑new City Centre beer and food tour, celebrating historic pubs, cutting‑edge taprooms, and the rich brewing culture woven into the fabric of the Steel City. The city centre tour has been designed to showcase Sheffield’s independent spirit through food, drink, culture, and creative pub spaces.

The Steel City Beer and Food Tour runs twice monthly — a great way for visitors or locals to explore the city. Private tours for groups of 6+ are available, and gift vouchers make a perfect present for beer lovers.

A New Way to Explore Sheffield’s famous beer scene

The new Steel City Beer & Food Tour: City Centre starts on Saturday, 28th February, and brings together the heart of Sheffield’s pub heritage with the new wave of modern craft beer spaces. On this four-hour walking tour, guests visit six iconic pubs, tasting a curated selection of pale ales, porters, seasonal brews and more — the equivalent of roughly four pints over the experience with three stops including food. The tour ends with a brewery tour and tasting at Triple Point Brewery and Bar.

What makes this tour special?

A route through Sheffield’s cultural quarter

You’ll wander through the bustling centre, exploring venues housed in stunning historic buildings alongside vibrant contemporary taprooms. The tour blends story‑rich stops and local history with generous tastings, echoing Sheffield’s past and future as a beer capital.

Perfectly paired food at three stops

Expect dishes like pizza, a Sheffield fishcake, and a mini slider and fries — equivalent to a three‑course lunch crafted to complement the beers served.

A brewery tour finale

The experience concludes at Triple Point Brewery, where guests enjoy a guided brewery tour, a tasting, and the final bite of the day — the perfect end to a deep dive into Sheffield's beer and brewing culture.
